Today, I was able to spend time with a wonderful group of mostly young people who work with other young people. We were talking about leadership and time management.
A core line of thinking emerged in our conversation: leadership is not only what we say, but it is also how we spend our time. Calendars tell stories. They reveal priorities, pressures, and values. When time is misaligned with mission, schools feel fragmented. When time is used intentionally, culture becomes coherent. I believe leadership is practiced in small, repeated choices. Where does your attention go, what time do you protect, what do you tend to postpone? Over time, those choices shape legacy. Even young people can begin to understand this. When students are encouraged to reflect on how they use their time, they begin to see leadership as responsibility rather than authority. How are you trying to live aligned today?
