Join Middle School Special Educator Martha St. Jean as she leads a 3 part series on deconstructing our various identities and how that impacts the work we do in virtual or in-person classrooms. Our identities allow us to determine and distinguish between issues and ideas. They also can impact the ways in which we view culture as capital (Yosso, 2005). In order to dismantle systems of oppression we must know who we are and how we operate. Join Martha in using the Cycle of Socialization (Harro, 1982), Cycle of Liberation (Harro, 2000) and a variety of texts and media to interrogate the identities we hold.
